Aurora Frost – The Most Cost-Effective Ground Thawing Solution in the Industry

The Aurora Block product family is expanding and introduces a completely new operating model for ground thawing, enabling more cost-effective and flexible thawing than ever before.

Aurora Frost is here!

Aurora Frost – Ground Thawing as Part of the Aurora Block System

Aurora Block is a modular energy system consisting of multiple interconnected energy units, called Blocks. It is designed for temporary and critical energy needs during construction, with year-round operation capability.

Aurora Blocks are already used in various temporary applications. With the addition of the Aurora Frost Block, the system is now also suitable for ground thawing. In practice, this means that ground thawing costs are no longer based on short-season specialty equipment, but on a year-round energy system.

Aurora Frost is delivered together with an energy production unit as a fully operational package on a trailer. If needed, the units can be detached from the trailer, allowing the solution to be used in hard-to-access locations and at elevated structures.

How It Works?

Select the Heating Source

Depending on the site requirements, either the Aurora 64 condensing oil boiler (64 kW) or the Aurora 28 air-to-water heat pump (28 kW) is selected.

Connect Aurora Frost

The selected heating unit is connected to the Aurora Frost ground thawing unit, which includes everything required for ground thawing — from hoses and heating mats to electrical controls.

Ready to Thaw!

The complete ground thawing solution is delivered to the site on a trailer, ready for immediate operation.

Ground thawing can be carried out directly from the trailer, or the units can be detached and relocated to different areas as needed.

What Problems Does Aurora Frost Solve?

  • Ground thawing is a mandatory but critical phase of winter construction. Frost must be removed before work can continue. Without effective ground thawing, the site stops and schedules are delayed.

  • Traditional ground thawing solutions make this necessary task expensive. The equipment is often used only during a short season, which significantly increases costs compared to other temporary heating solutions.

  • Conventional equipment also limits where ground thawing can be carried out. Many solutions only operate where a trailer can be driven, making thawing difficult in confined areas, elevated structures, or otherwise challenging locations.

Aurora Block for Ground Thawing

The ground thawing solution is built around a single heat production unit connected to the Aurora Frost unit. Together, they form a fully operational package for demanding ground thawing needs.

Aurora 28
Air-to-Water Heat Pump

A flexible heat production unit for ground thawing, suitable for a wide range of sites. It delivers stable, precisely controlled, and energy-efficient heat even in changing conditions.

Aurora 64 Condensing Oil Boiler

A high-efficiency condensing oil boiler that provides stable, high-temperature energy for ground thawing, even in demanding conditions. Achieves up to 90–98% efficiency.

Aurora Frost Ground Thawing

A hydronic ground thawing unit designed for construction sites, with all required components integrated into one package. The unit includes 600 meters of ground thawing hose with electrically controlled hose reels and operates seamlessly as part of the Aurora Block system.

Efficiency Metrics

Over 85%
More Predictable Costs

With only ~5–20% of total costs coming from energy consumption (electricity and fuel) and 80–95% tied to fixed unit pricing, Aurora Block delivers a cost structure that is over 85% more predictable compared to traditional oil heaters. By treating both electricity and fuel as energy variables, we provide a more transparent and realistic cost comparison for your project.

Over 90%
Lower CO₂ Emissions

Aurora Block is powered primarily by zero-emission heat pump technologies. Fuel is consumed only by the The Redundancy Layer, ensuring more than 90% lower CO₂ emissions than conventional solutions while providing critical reliability even in demanding conditions.

Up to 30%
Lower Costs

Optimization is a standard feature. By optimizing both the number of blocks and the chosen energy source, each site always operates with the right capacity at maximum efficiency. Resulting in up to 30% lower total costs.
